Bulgaria boasts one of the most diverse ecosystems in Europe and remains one of the few places on the continent with a thriving population of large carnivores. Today, between 400 and 700 wild brown bears roam the country, with the highest concentrations located in the Central Balkan and the Rhodope Mountains. Studies reveal that the lush region connecting Trigrad, Devin, and Shiroka Laka alone is home to roughly 40 to 70 bears.
The pristine forests surrounding the picturesque town of Devin offer you a truly unique opportunity: observing brown bears in their natural habitat! Read on to find out how you can book a brown bear observation hide near Devin.
There are several Brown bear observation hides in the Devin area that can be used from late April until the end of September. Each hide can accommodate up to 4 people, and the chances of spotting a bear are above 70%!
