Borovets is the oldest Bulgarian winter resort with a history dating back to the year of 1896! Established at the end of the 19-th century as a hunting place for the Bulgarian kings, Borovets gradually developed into a modern ski resort of high-class and luxury hotels, haute-cuisine restaurants and an excellent network of ski runs and lifts along the slopes of Rila Mountains, providing excellent opportunities for the whole range of winter sports - from Alpine to cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon. The resort twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds, while the biathlon track is one of the best in the world. The resort features: more than 58km of marked ski runs (longest run is 5,8km) and cross country tracks; some of the ski runs are sound-tracked and lit up by modern lighting systems, allowing for night skiing fun; altitude of the ski runs between 1350 and 2560m with main slopes exposure being North; 2 chair lifts, 1 gondola lift (6-seat), 1 fixed grip quad chair lift, 10 drags and few baby drags; natural snow cover exceeding 2 m in winter; huge variety of accommodations – from cozy pensions and holiday apartments to 4-star hotels.

Hotel Rila is the biggest one in Borovets resort and also one of the largest on the Balkans in general. Situated in the heart of Borovets, right below the ski runs, it offers the most exclusive access to all resort facilities within short walking distance. The hotel runs its own ski school & kindergarten, ski-depot, toboggans, après-ski etc. At clients’ disposal are also covered swimming pool, sauna, fitness center, shopping center, 24hrs reception and helpful tour desk. The establishment features 256 rooms entirely refurbished during 2001 with bath, wc, balcony cable TV and phone. The hotels has also 241 studios, suited to 4 adults or a family – they have twin bed and 2 full sized bunk beds, also basic cooking facilities (inc. fridge) and all other facilities that are mentioned above for a typical double room.

Hotel Samokov enjoys probably the second best location in Borovets after hotel Rila – just 150m from the gondola lift station. The eleven store building in alpine style, surrounded by old pine forests, offers pleasant atmosphere and first class service throughout the year. The hotel has 250 standard rooms, 11 delux rooms and 4 suits, equipped with all necessary facilities - minibar, direct telephone line, satellite TV, bath with tub, balcony with a view to the mountains. A brand new five-star complex with luxury apartments, situated at the entrance of the resort some 300m before the gondola lift station. The hotels features 104 luxury furnished double rooms and apartments well spread on 7 floors, with areas from 36 to 155 sq.m. All rooms have cable TV, telephone, Internet access, minibar, bathroom with bathtub and shower. Inside the hotel you will also find fish restaurant, pool bar, indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, fitness, sauna etc.
